Administration

Palo Verde Valley Transit Agency (PVVTA) is your transit agency for the City of Blythe and the County of Riverside. PVVTA administers Desert Roadrunner, Desert RoadTRIP and promotes Ridesharing in the Palo Verde Valley.

Desert Roadrunner is operated under contract to Transportation Concepts. Transportation Concepts provides the dispatchers and the bus operators.

PVVTA is administered by City of Blythe which oversee the administration, marketing, planning and financial aspects on behalf of the agency. PVVTA also funds 75% of a City of Blythe mechnic to provide maintenance services.

PVVTA started on January 24, 1978, when the City of Blythe and County of Riverside formed a Joint Powers Authority for the provisions of transportation services within the Palo Verde Valley. Prior to PVVTA, there were no transit services in the Palo Verde Valley. PVVTA started with four 12-19 passenger buses that used diesel fuel.

Today, PVVTA now has two classic american trolleys, one gasoline powered van and six diesel powered 16-24 passenger cutaways.

Regular meetings of the Palo Verde Valley Transit Agency Board of Directors are held on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 12:00 noon at the Blythe City Hall Council Chambers, 235 North Broadway.

The Agenda is a listing of all items scheduled to be considered by the PVVTA Board of Directors. It is posted on Wednesday afternoon prior to the regular PVVTA meeting. Interested parties may confirm with the Palo Verde Valley Transit Agency on the afternoon before the meeting date if an item has been pulled from the agenda.

The PVVTA Board of Directors is comprised of two members of the City Council of the City of Blythe, one public member appointed by the City of Blythe, one member from the County of Riverside Board of Supervisors, District 4 and one public member appointed by the County of Riverside, Board of Supervisors for a total of five boardmembers.

Public members are appointed by the each member agency of the joint powers agency and serve at the pleasure of that member agency.

Employment Opportunities

Transportation Concepts is accepting on-going applications for the following positions:

Part Time Bus Operator (8.00 to 9.00 per hour) This position will professionally operate Desert Roadrunner buses. The perfect candidate will have a valid Class B California Drivers License with passenger endorsement (Class C drivers welcomed for paid training). Potential applications must be at least 23 years old to apply and have a clean DMV H-6 print out, which must be submitted with application.
