The bus driver identified as a 40 year old, who suffered cuts to her hands and was transported to Memorial Hospital of Gardena for medical treatment, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP officials said that Edison crews temporarily shut down the electrical lines, while they cleaned up the electrical wires that were connected to the light pole the MTA bus struck and L.A. County crews were dispatched to clean up the trees the bus struck.

According to Fullerton Fire Department fire marshal Julie Kunze, the students on the bus involved in the crash were between ages 16 and 21. The six students that were injured were transported to the hospital with minor injuries and are students with special needs. The crash, according to attorney Michael Ehline occurred on North Towne Avenue and East San Bernardino Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. between a tour bus and a passenger vehicle.

According to the Pomona Police Department there was a 31 year old female driving the vehicle that was critically injured and a 22 year old man in the passenger seat that was fatally injured. The man whose name is not being released pending notification of his next of kin was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, but authorities state he was a resident of Pomona.

There was no one injured on the tour bus and some authorities reported the bus was not carrying passengers at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. on the I-5 Freeway in Commerce in the vicinity of the Commerce Casino and south of Washington Boulevard.

The four buses were traveling in the northbound lanes when a car in front of the bus carrying inmates slammed on its brakes, according to Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Matt Levesque.

According to authorities a late morning collision between a black BMW sports utility vehicle, a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck and a grey Chevrolet HHR occurred at the intersection of Ellis Avenue and Las Flores Street in Fountain Valley.

Authorities stated that the black BMW collided with the Avalanche and the Chevy HHR, causing the BMW SUV to rollover.
