I just returned from San Jose, time to write…After both a criminal trial and a lawsuit, the aftermath of a Dallas-Fort Worth area accident that occurred 3-years ago has finally come to a dramatic end. 42-year-old Lance Shetler of Bonniebrae Court died when he was hit by drunk driver Mark Charles Pierce, a former Weatherford High School football star. Pierce is already behind bars serving a 15-year sentence for vehicular manslaughter. In addition, his family was awarded 1 million dollars in a lawsuit against Southern Oaks Country Club for selling him over 18 beers when he was already visibly intoxicated.
Shetler is survived by his three young children, his wife, and the rest of this extended family. Today his widow and his little girls can rest easy knowing they will have the financial support to fall back on in his absence. Their lives are changed forever due to the decisions of Pierce and the employees of the country club. An experienced Dallas personal injury attorney or Dallas auto accident lawyer, like the offices of:
Mullen & Mullen Law Firm
1825 Market Center Boulevard #200, Dallas, TX
(214) 747-5240 Regis and Shane Mullen, can help anyone affected by a violent auto accident like this one and they provide wonderful service. If you or someone you love is hurt by the poor driving decisions of another motorist, I advise you to contact an attorney as soon as you can. Expert legal counsel and service can make a world of difference. It cannot reverse a tragedy, but good lawyer can determine whether or not you receive a suitable settlement that will see you through your time of need. By the way, someone I know who manages a San Jose Auto Service
told me that these types of car accident cases causing personal injury are all too common at this auto service center there in San Jose.
Shetler was driving his van in the 500 block of Abner Lee Drive in Fort Worth, when he was hit head-on by Pierce in his Chevrolet Trailblazer. He was driving on the wrong side of the road, trying to pass in a no-passing zone. Shetler died at the scene. To make matters worse, Pierce decided to flee the scene of the accident, making this a hit-and-run. Luckily, authorities were able to apprehend him pretty quickly. Three hours after the collision, his blood alcohol level was still .14, almost twice the legal limit of .08. According to witnesses, the country club sold him ridiculous amounts of alcohol. I hope Shetler’s family can begin to heal with all of these things finally behind them. And I hope anyone in their position does not hesitate to contact an experienced injury attorney.
